How To Get Ruler On Word

Longtime microsoft word users may miss the default document view that contains a ruler, but luckily it takes only a couple clicks to get it back in word 2013/2016. Ms word shows a horizontal and a vertical ruler that it uses to align margins, paragraphs, images, tables, etc.this ruler can be customized and played with by the user in many ways.

You should now see a ruler at the top and left side of the screen, like in the picture below.

How to get ruler on word. First, make sure you’re in print layout view. Open word 2007 (as you may notice, now we don't have any vertical ruler and horizontal ruler) 2. Microsoft word 2007 and 2010 enabling and disabling the rulers is done through either of the following methods.

Open your document in word 2013. Open your document in word. The ruler visibility setting should then remain the same once you close microsoft word.

If you use word 2007, there are 2 options of how to show ruler in word. Now look towards the center of the ribbon. Scroll down towards the display section and then keep the “show vertical ruler in print layout view” unchecked.

The ruler tool in word is sometimes overlooked by many when trying to align and position text and other objects. To display the ruler if you can’t already see it, go to the view tab and make sure that ruler is checked (in the show group). Click the view tab at the top of the window. Then check or uncheck the “ruler” checkbox in the “show” button group to turn the display of the ruler on and off, if available for your currently selected document view. Click the view tab, then click the ruler check box to show the horizontal and vertical ruler. I for one, like the inclusion of the ruler because it’s a reminder of what the document’s margins are and where the different indentations are.

To show the ruler in word and also hide it, click the “view” tab in the ribbon. Click the view tab at the top of the window. But if you have the word desktop application, click open in word to open the document and see rulers.

Select the text where you want to add a hanging indent. If “print layout” isn’t already highlighted, click it now. Select the view tab at the top of the window.

This was announced in ablog post.however, the word web app does not provide the granular functionality of a ruler with specific tab stops as found in the microsoft word desktop client. This is particularly important to know when working on documents where margin sizes matter.

In word 2016 document, in search type tab ruler. Now, the vertical ruler is hidden. Click the show vertical ruler in print layout view.
